Assessment Options For Families

When undergoing an assessment a family has three options:

  • The public school district that the family resides in may be able to provide a free assessment through their school psychologists. Contact their office for the packet labeled “Referral for Special Education Services.” Once the packet has been received, it is recommended to contact the Student Services Coordinator for help completing the requirements of the packet.
  • Insurance companies may pay for part of the assessment process. Contact the insurance company and inform them that the school has recommended a full psychological-educational evaluation (and/or one to determine possible ADHD issues) and request the list of educational psychologists that are preferred providers. Once the preferred provider list has been received, the Student Services Coordinator can review the list and make recommendations.
  • The family may choose to pay for the assessment privately. The Student Services Coordinator will refer individuals in private practice. Some private practices offer assessment on a sliding scale of fees.
