Ballard High School is an inclusive, supportive community that cultivates a tradition of excellence for all students. With a staff committed to the complete education of each student, we stress academic excellence, personal achievement, and social growth. We strive to prepare students for higher education and post-high school careers. Students acquire an excellent foundation for higher education through rigorous academic classes including Advanced Placement courses in a variety of arts, social studies, mathematics, science, and world languages. To personalize and individualize instruction, we have created five academies and pathways: the Bio-Technology Academy, the Academy of Finance, the Maritime Academy, Project Lead the Way Pre-Engineering Pathway, and the Digital Film Pathway. In addition, the Ninth Grade Academy/Connections Academy, has been implemented to focus on transitioning students to high school and preparation for Honors and Advanced Placement course work. Our video and film program is acknowledged as one of the best in the nation. In addition, both our instrumental and vocal music programs have emerged as one of the strongest in the Seattle region. Ballard enjoys exceptional parent and community support for our academic programs, activities, and athletics through the PTSA, booster clubs, and the Ballard High School Foundation.
