Welcome to the LWGMS Martial Arts Page
The primary teachers for the program this year are Ms. Karri and Mr. Joel Schomberg. Both have extensive experience teaching adults, children and teens in martial arts and are part of this program because they enjoy working with young people. Karri is also a past LWGMS parent (Cassie Gill, class of 2009) and is the board vice president and outreach coodinator for Quantum Martial Arts. BELT TEST INFORMATION
The fall quarter promotions test will be on Friday, November 20th from 12:45 to 3:15 PM in the auditorium. Most parents find watching this test a real blast, so do attend if your schedule allows.
Girls should bring:
Clean and Ironed Uniform and belt
Water bottle
A T shirt or Sports bra to wear under the uniform
Uniforms should be worn WITHOUT other tight fitting pants underneath.
Girls should plan to eat lunch quickly and report to the auditorium no later than 12:30 to start warm ups.
Parents
Bring cameras if you'd like.
UNIFORM INFORMATION
With a few exceptions for students that have their own uniforms, each girl has been issued a uniform that belongs to LWGMS to use for the quarter. Girls should bring the uniform to each class and are responsible for keeping it clean. The belt is theirs to keep. DO NOT wash the belt.
Uniforms are to be returned clean to the office on or before November 24th (last day of fall term). If a student's uniform is not returned, there will be a charge of $30 (payable to LWGMS) to replace the uniform. Please be sure that both the pants and jacket have a note attached so that the student gets credit for returning the uniform.
HOMEWORK
Each quarter, students will have a short paper to write as part of their coursework. This will be handed out 1 week before the test.
This is due IN CLASS Wednesday the 18th. There are grade level specific assignments. These are available in the "files" below. E mail Ms. Meleo at moc.liamg|epytOirrak#moc.liamg|epytOirrak if they do not work for you.
Please note:
There is a big difference between a tenet and a tenant. Try not to confuse them.
LWGMS GIRLS GET FREE DOJO CLASSES!
All current students at LWGMS can attend any adult general or basics class at Quantum martial arts free of charge. Yellow belts and above can take sparring class. Green belts are invited to take green belt class. Check out the schedule at http://www.quantumseattle.org.
Quantum Martial Arts is a not for profit organization and classes are available to families of LWGMS girls based on a sliding fee scale. The first two weeks are always free, so don't hestitate to try a class!
