2008-09 Science 6 Term 1

Welcome Sixth Graders! The umbrella theme for much of sixth grade science is "Can We Save Puget Sound?" Through this topic, we will cover the ecology of the sound. This will include information about individual species, the interaction between the species and the non-living factors in the Sound; watersheds and the effect of humans on the Sound; water, nitrogen, and carbon cycles. The theme will serve as a springboard for other sub-units such as atoms and molecules and cells. We will take field trips to such places as the Duamish River, the Discovery Park water treatment plant, and some chosen sites to do water testing.
